College can be a daunting place. You're leaving home, most likely for the first time, and venturing off on your own. There can be a lot of stress and anxiety about the future. There are so many options out there, and so many career paths you could potentially go down. Have no fear, though. There is, without a doubt, something out there for you. Here are a few popular options to think about.
Business and Finance
Going into the business and finance world is one of the most popular avenues that students take. There are so many options under both categories that, if you find the type of environment you're looking for, it is a rarity not to enjoy what you do. Going to school for business can set you up for a job in human resources, marketing or even healthcare. If wanting to pursue a managerial position, the type of people that thrive in that area are conscientious, organized and good with people.
The finance world will also give you many different options that you can go down. While a career in finance can be similar to a career in business in some aspects, jobs in finance range anywhere from financial analyst to accountant to banker and beyond.
Health and Fitness
Health and fitness is another category that gives students a plethora of different options to go down. Sometimes this field can be daunting. You may think medical school is too hard for you, or there is too much to learn about nutrition if going into dietetics. Fancy words and phrases pop up all over social media, which can be confusing. Like, what is a life coach? What is an exercise physiologist? Imposter syndrome can take hold and make you think you can't do it. Nothing could be further from the truth, however. Are you someone that likes to help others? That is the number one thing the health and fitness field does for people. Everyone has to start somewhere, and no matter what avenue you choose, jobs will be booming.
Teaching
No matter what age you want to teach, teachers are one of the most influential jobs of our time. You can teach people of any age, in a public or private setting. You can teach in a group setting, like a normal highschool classroom or be a private tutor and help one person on a more intimate level. There is also the option to work in a school setting with special needs students of all different ages. No matter which avenue you choose, however, the type of people that work best in a teaching environment are those that possess a lot of patience.
Information Technology
If you love computers and have an analytical and logical brain, information technology could be right up your ally. A degree in this field covers many topics, all of which prepare you to work with computers in some capacity. Things like coding, web development and software maintenance are ways in which you can put your love of technology to use with this career. There is no shortage of technology in the United States, and the field is only growing, which, in turn, is increasing the demand for workers.
Cyber Security
If you're looking for a career that will almost certainly pay a lot, no matter where you work, cyber security is the way to go. Similar to information technology, cyber security involves all things computers and technology, but is simply on the protection end of things instead of the development end. Pretty much everything is online nowadays, making people more vulnerable to their information, money or identity being stolen. This is exactly what cyber security protects against. Cyber security is one of the fastest growing fields, as well. Prominent industries like finance, healthcare or even the government are needing top tear workers to protect all of their data, and they're willing to pay a lot of money to get them.

Your education is important, but don't feel like you have to decide definitively what you want to do the rest of your life the very first week of college. If you need to change your major, that's perfectly fine. College is there for you to learn, not only about different career options, but also learn about yourself. So just do some research about the things you're interested in, because there is most definitely something out there for you.
