Welcome to the Rinella Learning Center's online course on Critical Reading Strategies. If you struggle to manage the reading load for your courses, if you have trouble remembering details from the readings you complete, or if you just want to brush up a little to maintain your strong GPA - this course has material that can help you! We will begin this course by assessing your current approach to reading, discuss different types of readings and the strategies that best suit them, and finish by discussing how to plan ahead and schedule your readings effectively. This course will take about 30-45 minutes to complete, and afterward, you will be equipped with the skills you need to successfully complete your course readings!
- Self-Assessment: You will assess your current reading practices and identify areas for improvement.
- Academic Literacy: You will understand the varieties of academic and other types of writing you will encounter in college.
- Reading Strategies: You will gain strategies to aid you with various types of reading.
- Reading Management: You will understand how to manage a college-level reading load.
